INTRODUCTION

Good evening!

Magandang gabi!

            Firstly, I would like to introduce my self. My name is Muthiara Chairani. I was born on June 26, 1998. I was born in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu, Indonesia, where I live right now. I am a student of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, majoring in English Education Study Program in third year.
            It is such an honor to be part of SEA-Teacher Batch 7, to be part of SEAMEO Program, especially university where I am assigned to, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac City of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia. 

            This blog will be my daily report for SEA-Teacher Batch 6. Hopefully, my experiences here can be a motivation to the others who wants to be a great teacher in the future.

First Time Visiting Mariano Marcos State University             After having breakfast, we were picked up by MMSU buses. We were taken to MMSU administration office. We were warmly-welcomed by all of MMSU people. We also met the president and the vice president of MMSU. We had welcoming ceremony on our first day. Everyone greeted and smiled at us. 3.       Teaching Plan 3 .1   Curriculum             At the basic education level, the Department of Education (DepEd) sets overall educational standards and mandates standardized testsfor the K–12 basic education system, although private schools are generally free to determine their own curriculum in accordance with existing laws and Department regulations.             On the other hand, at the higher education level, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) supervises and regulates colleges and universities, while the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for technical and vocational institutions regulates and accredits technical and vocational education programs and institutions.             For the academic year 2017–2018, about 83% of K–12 students attended public schools and about 17% either attended private schools or were home-schooled.             By law, education is compulsory for thirteen years (kindergarten and grades 1–12).
